Some of the selection of cut paper works I created since 2003 to the present; more recent works tend to incorporate not only paper cutting but also some drawing, painting, and other elements.
A series of drawing consisting of animals that do not exist in reality; one group falls into the imaginary, fantastic animals that are in some ways very much alive still in our imagination and popular culture, and second group falls into the real animals that once existed but now extinct due to various causes including human interference. These animals are practically forgotten by the world except in the minds of some people. Here these two groups of animals share the same space of a drawing, co-mingling and sometimes having a conversation.
Works combined with cut paper and collage (acrylic painting)
An homage to scientific charts, Maria Sibylla Merian, and other zoological illustrations, I have created my versions of not-so-natural zoological drawings/paintings.
Works that emphasize on painting/drawing combined with a paper cutting element in them
Works that are larger scale and need to be installed for each different venue
I have done quite a lot of photography in the 80s and 90s.
Even all the cut paper pieces start out as a drawing. It is the most basic and direct way to express mood, to put down ideas, and to tell a story.
